Uninstall and delete everything
Take a copy of your data, delete it all, or remove Homeling from your Mac.
Export a copy of your data
In Homeling: Settings → Your Data → Export Everything…
Export Everything… saves all of it (chats, people, memories, settings and files) to a folder you choose. Add a passphrase to encrypt the export; without one it's a plain ZIP file anyone with the file can open.
Delete everything
In Homeling: Settings → Your Data → Delete Everything…
Delete Everything… removes everything Homeling keeps on your Mac and starts over as on a new Mac: your chats, people, memories, settings and files, and Homeling's items in your Keychain. It can't be undone, so export first if you want a copy.
- “Keep downloaded AI models” keeps the models (they aren't your data, and they're large to download again).
- “Also delete my backups in iCloud Drive and forget their key” removes your backups too.
- Even if you keep your backups, the backup key is one of the Keychain items that goes, so those backups can no longer be opened.
Uninstall Homeling
- Turn off the background service: Settings → General → Keep working when the window is closed → Turn off.
- Delete your data, if you want it gone: Delete Everything… above.
- Quit Homeling (its menu bar icon → Quit Homeling), and drag Homeling from Applications to the Trash. The Mail extension goes with it.
What stays if you just drag it to the Trash
- Homeling's folder, with your data and its models: ~/Library/Application Support/Homebody.
- Its cache: ~/Library/Caches/Homebody.
- The Mail extension's folder in ~/Library/Group Containers (its name ends in ai.homeling.mac).
- Homeling's items in your Keychain, such as “Homeling backup key”.
- Your backups, in iCloud Drive → Homeling Backup.
Delete these to remove every trace. Delete Everything… removes the first, second and fourth for you.
